NORFORK LAKE
Construction of Norfork dam on the North Fork of the White River There are 19 Army Corps of Engineers parks on Norfork Lake that offer camping, picnicking, swimming beaches, and boat launches. There are also commercial marinas offering slip rentals, boat rentals, guide services, etc. Private resorts are also available that offer extensive services and amenities for the convenience and comfort of lake area vacationers.
The most popular activity on the lake is fishing. Most varieties of fresh water game fish are found in Norfork Lake. Black bass, white bass, walleye, crappie, bream and catfish are plentiful. The specialty of the lake is striped bass. It is not rare for a 40 pounder to be caught. 30 pounders are commonly landed. Landing one in the boat is quite an experience. Be prepared to ice down a lot of filets! The Army Corps of Engineers own the land surrounding the lake. It is open to public use, subject to regulations.
